Interview Cont: Update on Automotive Application

Here's the next installment from my interview with Russ Scott, COO of Technology Applications Inc. on 26 March 2008.

Question: has there been progress in terms of releasing an automobile application?

Russ Scott: when you talk about automotive, are you talking about truck fleets or passenger vehicles? We are not going to announce a passenger vehicle application for this before 2010. Now, I'm not going to tell you early 2010, 2nd qtr 2010...I'm just going to say we will not have a passenger vehicle application ready for commercialization before 2010. So between now and 2010, we're spending all our effort in doing the R&D and the validation with two Fortune 300 companies truck fleets.

Question: So for now, you're just focused on truck fleets?

Russ Scott: Initially, we intend to spend our time in the early stages here with on the road truck fleets.

In future installments, Russ will comment on Venture Capital, Immitators & 3rd party validation of claims, etc...

New Blog on Vertigro

I started a new blog based on a story that CNN published concerning a vertical growing system that can produce biomass that can be converted to fuel. Here's an intriguing excerpt from the story:

Kertz said he can produce about 100,000 gallons of algae oil a year per acre, compared to about 30 gallons per acre from corn; 50 gallons from soybeans.

Aquygen Video On YouTube

This seems to be the most viewed video on YouTube for Aquygen or HHO or HHO Gas.  Viewed over 100,000 times.  It was interesting to me that they said they showed their welding application to the Navy because it could "cut lead."

Why hasn't there been any press releases for 18-24 months?

So, here's the first installment of an interview I was able to perform today with Russ Scott who is COO of Hydrogen Technology Applications Inc. I wanted to start with the last question he was willing to answer because it was one that I thought was most interesting.

-----------------------
Question: It seems like 18-24 months ago, there was an interest on the part of your company to talk to the media. But since then...there hasnt been....

Russ Scott: We're gonna stay......yeah....because....you know, the more we give, the more they want. And we're going to stay under the radar screen as much as we can until we're ready for a very strong public announcement as to what we've accomplished in that 18 month time period that you are making reference to right now. And...you know....we're just about there.

Question: so then, it was just a big pain when those early news stories came out? in other words, with the media interest it was difficult to conduct your business and stay focused is that what you're saying?

Russ Scott: There was too much....because what it did to this office...it buried this office trying to answer phone calls. The office wasn't prepared for that. So no, we're not going to put something else out there to create more of that. We dont have the infrastructure in terms of people sitting at desks just to take these phone calls.
-----------------
In future excerpts, I'll post what Russ had to say about immitators/scams, the time frame for his first automotive application, 3rd party laboratory validation, and other topics.

Wow! An actual interview with COO of Hydrogen Technology Applications Inc

Well, it only took 2yrs but I finally was able to interview a senior executive with Hydrogen Technology Applications Inc.   Russ Scott, COO, took fielded some questions today with me on the phone.  I took copious notes and will be posting excerpts from this interview over the next few days so stay tuned.

Topics to be covered include:  hho gas technology immitations, Department of Defense work, automotive applications, dealing with the crush of the press, etc.

H2O 1500 Aquygen™ Gas Generator

Figured it was time to add a few pics to the blog. Here's the Aquygen Gas Generator, ie, welding maachine. From hytechapps, this description:

The H2O 1500 Aquygen™ Gas Generator runs on water and electricity only! It produces a stable hybrid hydrogen-oxygen gas, with many unique properties. The generator provides a superior gas for most conventional brazing, soldering and metal cutting operations.

These advantages are listed:

Economy: It's up to 90% less expensive than acetylene in gas costs.
A Healthier Working Environment: Zero emission of carbon monoxide versus 100 parts per million for typical acetylene.
Operational Safety: Aquygen™ Gas is light and dissipates rapidly into the atmosphere: compare to acetylene, which is dense and seeks ground level.
Environmentally Friendly: Aquygen™ Gas produces zero pollution when burning, while hydrocarbon-based fuel gases pollute the environment.
New Applications: In addition to performing most conventional brazing, soldering and cutting operations, the H2O 1500 Aquygen™ Gas Generator performs many exotic cutting, brazing and fusing applications that cannot be performed by conventional methods and processes.

Too good to be true?

Check out the last question in this Q/A with Duncan Haimerl in the Hartford Courant. Speaks to some new gadgets that claim to work with hho gas & hydrogen. Seems like the dismissal may be a little quick which is understandable but then again, I think the first time you come across the idea of Aquygen or HHO Gas, it's easy to dismiss it as bunk. But then you kind of poke around a bit and learn that maybe there may be more to it. Make up your own minds. For me, until I actually get in a car with one of these gadgets and drive twice as far on a full tank of gas, then flip the unit off and drive half the distance on a full tank, I'll probably be skeptical.

More on YouTube videos

I was thinking about it this morning.  If you look at the coverage on Denny Klein a couple years ago, it was all over the place even on CNN.  Then they completely stopped talking to the press.  Granted, as a small company, it must be quite a burden to the normal conduct of business to have all this press floating around, etc.  But still, it did make you wonder if maybe they were going to back off some of their claims.  Pons/Fleishman cold fusion comes to mind here.

But in viewing what they put together on YouTube, you get a strong sense that they are not backing off any of their claims. And with regard to the welding application, it seems they are actually progressing to later stages of developing their marketing strategy by including comments from actual users of the product.

And of more interest to everyone is of course the claims regarding hho gas as a fuel. They are not backing off of their claims here either.  Watch the second Youtube video and you will see they are actually touting how little effort was required to retool the car with their hydrogen on demand system.  51% fuel efficiency they are touting.  Im not  a physicist so I'm not sure exactly what that probably extremely basic concept means.  Ah yes, wikipedia says its the efficiency of converting chemical (or other) energy into kinetic energy.

HHO Gas Infomercial

Ok, forgive me but I'm off my game here.  Did a little search and found that the folks at Hydrogen Technology Applications inc have posted a couple infomercials on YouTube.  It's heavily oriented around the welding application.  There's alot of footage of Denny Klein discussing the technology as well as lots of examples, interviews with customers, etc.  Much is said about the safety aspect of the welding application.

The second informercial picks up where the last left off but also starts talking a little bit about the car, aircraft fuel applications.  They call the car hydrogen on demand vehicle and indicate that it has over 51% economy economy.

Here's the first infomercial. And here's the second one.

Also, I added these to a video bar on the right.

Been awhile but another local news story

It's been awhile since we've seen any new stories out of Hydrogen Technology Applications. But looks like some new coverage of Denny Klein has once again surfaced.  Similar to previous coverage. Also, an interesting reference is made to a new car that runs on compressed air.

New Blog of Interest on EEstor

If you're interested in cars that can run on water, you may also be interested in news surrounding a company called EEStor that claims to have created a supercapacitor capable of rendoring current battery technology obsolete. For example, the claim is they have technology you can charge an electric car for 5 minutes at a cost of $9 and then drive that car 500 miles.

Many news outlets picked up the story and so I decided to create another blog devoted to it.

Here's the blog. I've included links to articles on CNN, New York Times, etc.

Update on Aquygen

It's been awhile since I posted anything on this blog about Aquygen. So, on a whim, I decided to call Hydrogen Technology Applications Inc and try to talk with Denny Klein to see how his venture is progressing. I had tried this a year ago when his technology was finding its way into several news outlets but the phone was always busy, ie, ringing off the hook. Today, a year later, the phone is answered on the first ring. I explained to the receptionist that I was a blogger and wanted to interview Denny or someone to get an update on their business. She said, "we are not providing interviews at this time. " "Really, why not?" "Policy." --long pause-- "And what is the policy based on---did something happen that caused it to go into effect?" "No, that's all I can say at this time." I pressed her a bit more by explaining that I just wanted to ask some innocent questions as a follow on to the discoveries Klein has made. But apparently this is strict policy against it now. Just in case anyone wants to try the same, here is the info grabbed from their website. See also the note about the "auto system."

Venture Capital for HHO Gas

I've been corresponding with a gentleman representing a VC firm who has performed a bit of initial research into Klein's efforts. Out of respect, I'll keep the identities confidential. Essentially, this person has visited with Klein at his facilities in Florida. His conclusion is that this is a classic case of a technology with many immediate practical applications but in needing of funding and guidance to achieve it's true potential. Accordingly, Aquygen has the potential to be a blockbuster invention. Will we all be driving water powered cars? Only time will tell. For my part, I did some poking around on this particular VC firm and found it to be involved in many enormous projects (read multi-billion dollar infrastructure type projects).

Updated Video Links

Alot of the previous links to video coverage have expired and become broken. For 3 quick videos go here .

Sunday, July 02, 2006

A previous reader commented about my broken link to Klein's Patent application. It caused me to go back and do a bit more research. For now, I see 4 related patent applications from Klein related to Aquygen. First, here's one for an anti-rust treatment. Next, here's one for a solution that makes it easier to perform electrolysis.

Here's the most recent one for hho gas . Here's a previous one for what seems to be the same thing.

Water Engine, Aquygen or Brown's Gas?

Here's an article written without the aid of alot of research. :-) The purpose of including it is to show that the story of Aquygen continues to make the rounds. Oh well, let's all keep guessing, shall we?
